Pupil Premium Funding
What is Pupil Premium?
The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
This money is for schools to decide how to use in order to improve the educational attainment of children from less privileged backgrounds. The pupil premium has the potential to have a great impact on the attainment, and future life chances, of pupils.
How much is it worth?
In the 2018 to 2019 financial year, schools will receive the following funding for each child registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years:
- £1,320 for pupils in reception year to year 6
Schools will also receive £2,300 for each pupil who has left local-authority care because of 1 of the following:
- adoption
- a special guardianship order
- a child arrangements order
- a residence order
Children who have been in local-authority care for 1 day or more also attract £2,300 of pupil premium funding.
Is my child eligible?
It’s important to know that a pupil does not need to have a school dinner, but the parents / carers should check to see if they are entitled to the extra funding.
